picobrew12121The folks at PicoBrew already brought you a badass high-tech beer-maker. Now they’re moving on to kegerators.

The Seattle-based startup today launched a Kickstarter for KegSmarts, or, as the company describes it, the “world’s smartest kegerator.”

picobrew1211KegSmarts is a Wi-Fi enabled device that hooks up to a standard kegerator and provides information on an OLED display like temperature, quantity, and type of beer — all of which can be monitored and controlled from a mobile device. PicoBrew also has its own social network that allows KegSmarts owners to share information about the beer in their keg.

If you already have your own kegerator, pricing for the KegSmarts head unit starts at $199; those that need the entire set-up will have to shell out at least $799.

PicoBrew has already raised more than $40,000 in less than 12 hours. Its funding goal is $100,000.

The company’s first product was the PicoBrew Zymatic, a $1,799 beer-making machine that allows amateur brewers to easily craft delicious stouts, porters and IPAs on their kitchen countertops. PicoBrew raised more than $660,000 with its initial Kickstarter and has now shipped more than 500 Zymatic devices.

Former Microsoft veteran Bill Mitchell founded PicoBrew with his brother, Jim, and Avi Geiger, another ex-Microsoft employee. The founders have raised more than $2.8 million to date.
