bing11Bing is getting conversational.

Microsoft’s search engine today rolled out a new feature that remembers what you last searched for and offers related follow-up answers.

For example, if you search for “Who is the president of the United States,” and then search, “who is his wife,” or, “how old his he,” Bing will give you the correct answer without having to type in “Barack Obama” again.

The follow-up feature is similar to the technology built into Cortana, Microsoft’s virtual assistant on Windows Phone, and what’s found in Google Now.

“These improvements build on extensive work we have done to build out the Bing platform including investments in entity and conversational understanding,” writes Bing’s Yan Ke. “This is a long journey, and we expect to deliver a number of additional improvements in the days ahead.”
