Kindle Fire will have Hulu Plus, after all.

Amazon this morning updated the list of apps that will be available for its new tablet computer when it launches next week, saying that the Hulu Plus subscription service will be among them, joining Netflix.

Apart from being good news for Hulu Plus subscribers who have pre-ordered a Kindle Fire, the news is notable because Amazon is counting in part on revenue from its Amazon Prime subscription service — which offers Instant Video streaming movies, among other perks — to recoup its losses on the Kindle Fire hardware and make money overall.

By bringing in Netflix and Hulu Plus, Amazon is effectively opening the door to Amazon Prime’s competition.

Barnes & Noble earlier this week announced its new Nook Tablet, touting the availability of Netflix and Hulu Plus on its Kindle Fire competitor.
