The need for networking is obvious. No matter what line of work you’re in, there is nothing more powerful than a connection who can get you in the door, advise you on your ideas and help to grow your business. However, attending events can be a big time suck and an expensive way to make relevant business connections. One app has set out to solve that problem. Meet Shapr, the completely free networking app that uses a smart algorithm to make networking as easy and meaningful as possible.
To get started on Shapr, pick up to ten interests such as #technology or #bitcoin to help you match. Every day, the app’s algorithm will use your geolocation, profile data, industry and interests to suggest 10-15 profiles worth browsing. Just swipe right or click “Meet” on the profiles that interest you and get a notification when there is a match. From there, you can message your new connection and set up a time to grab coffee or say hello over Skype. The algorithm is smart so it will continue to improve your daily suggestions with every match you make.
Shapr has already made over three million introductions in 2017 and gained half a million users drawn to the efficiency and ease of making professional connections. These connections have led to interesting conversations, new friendships, and in the case of users like Reu-el Fleary-Griffiths, new businesses.
Reu-el is working on an app called Autoclick Fix that is essentially Uber for mechanics. Using the app, drivers with car trouble can enter their location and alert an independent mechanic that they require roadside assistance. On Shapr, Reu-el connected with her cofounder, Sam Kullar.
“Sam is one of the best people I’ve ever met. I can’t say enough good things about him,” says Reu-el. “I would never have met him without Shapr. It’s a fantastic way to meet likeminded people.”
Jason Dumois, an e-learning specialist, offers similar praise for Chatbot developer Raymond Gonzalez who he matched with through the app’s daily suggestions.
“I could tell within minutes of meeting him that we were going to work together and have a lifelong partnership,” comments Jason.
Jason has now been hired to produce video content for Ray’s company Chatbots Inc, and will continue to serve in an advisory role for the business.
