GeekWire, one of the nation’s top technology news sources, is expanding our dynamic and creative digital newsroom with the addition of a new general assignment reporter. The person in this role will handle a wide range of breaking daily stories about technology, science and innovation, while also managing standing editorial features including the popular Startup Spotlight and Working Geek features.
Oversee and manage standing editorial features while also working on breaking news and multiple general assignment stories per day.
Help to increase GeekWire’s visibility in the community by attending and reporting from tech community gatherings and news events.
Assist with social media to help deepen GeekWire’s engagement across the community in the Pacific Northwest and around the world.
Bring your own personality and creativity to our news team, looking for innovative and new ways to report the news and engage with the community.
- Excellent planning, reporting and writing skills.
- Experience finding great stories, chasing down scoops and conducting interviews
- The ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.
- 2-3 years of news reporting experience preferred.
- Professional experience with social media and video preferred.
The position is full-time, and affords some flexibility of working remotely, with a variable schedule, sometimes starting early in the morning for a breaking story, others running later into the evening covering or attending an event.
