Partner Power Hour – What is R, and how can I use it?

June 21 @ 12:15 pm - 1:00 pm

Free

R started as a language designed by statisticians for statisticians. Thanks to being open source, it has now become a highly accessible tool for people to create everything from machine learning models to interactive visualizations and maps and even web apps. In this talk, we will go over some of the history of this language, and how you can learn to implement it into your existing projects.

About the presenter:

Francisco is a PhD student at the University of Washington, where he studies nonprofits and NGOs using a variety of quantitative and qualitative methods. Some of his current research projects explore the application of machine learning to categorizing nonprofit mission statements, analyzing global impact measurement standards, and understanding how business practices are used at nonprofits. He received his Master of Public Administration from the Maxwell School of Syracuse University, and worked in management consulting and healthcare IT previously.
