How Leaders and Managers can Serve as Agents of Continuous Talent Development.
July 17 @ 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm$10
Join fellow Learning and Talent Development leaders for an evening of low key networking, food & drink and a thought provoking discussion by Dr. Carl Binder on how leaders and managers can serve as agents of continuous talent development.
Most efforts to develop leaders and managers focus on “soft skills” that enable them to work more effectively with their people. Many leadership programs, for example, teach HOW to work with people, HOW to determine best ways to communicate, and HOW to coach. While these skills are important, they often omit a key enabler of leadership and management: WHAT to discuss with direct reports and teams to help them improve their performance. In this session Dr. Carl Binder, CEO of The Performance Thinking Network, will discuss how leaders and managers can focus on the valuable contributions their people make to the organization, and on the factors that obstruct or enable them to contribute most effectively. Having identified those valuable accomplishments, they can work with people to optimize conditions for their performance. This approach focuses on the potential for leaders and managers to serve as agents of continuous talent development. In fact, when we consider the daily activities of leaders and managers, we recognize that much of their day-to-day activities are devoted to maximizing the performance of their people.
