There may not be a sibling combo that knows more about today’s dynamic sports and entertainment landscape than the Leiweke brothers.
Tod Leiweke is the chief operating officer of the NFL and was previously CEO of the Seattle Seahawks and Tampa Bay Lightning, in addition to past executive positions at the Minnesota Wild, Vancouver Canucks, Golden State Warriors, and PGA Tour.
His older brother Tim has an equally-impressive resume, having spent 18 years leading sports and entertainment giant AEG, and then two years as CEO of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment. In 2015, he founded Oak View Group, one of two groups bidding for the KeyArena renovation in Seattle.

Tim Leiweke will draw on more than three decades of experience working with professional sports franchises and top musicians to talk about the future of stadiums and the fan experience. While leading AEG for 18 years, he helped create a $2.5 billion L.A. Live complex in downtown Los Angeles and built new arenas across the globe. Now he’s heading up Oak View Group (OVG), a development and investment company made up of sponsorship, advisory, and venture fund divisions.
OVG, along with AEG, has submitted proposals to renovate Seattle’s Key Arena. We sat down with Leiweke in March to talk about his vision for the renovation, which includes several high-tech features.
Tod Leiweke, meanwhile, was CEO for the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning before becoming the NFL’s COO in 2015. He’s the league’s first COO since Roger Goodell was named commissioner in 2003.
Leiweke has Seattle roots. He was the Seattle Seahawks CEO from 2003 to 2010 while leading Paul Allen’s Vulcan Sports & Entertainment, a role that also included management of the NBA’s Portland Trail Blazers and MLS’ Seattle Sounders FC.
