Microsoft is expanding the preview of its AI-powered search and composition features to its Bing and Edge mobile apps starting today, two weeks after introducing the technology for desktop.

The expansion also means voice search will be introduced to the experience for the first time.

In addition, Microsoft says it will release the new Bing for Skype, allowing users to address questions to the AI chatbot for information and assistance in group conversations on the messaging platform.

The expansion to mobile follows a series of adjustments to address unusual behavior by the Bing chatbot in early usage of the preview, including incorrect answers and off-the-wall responses in long chat sessions. Microsoft set limits on chat sessions last week and relaxed them slightly Tuesday.

Microsoft is moving quickly to expand the footprint of its AI-powered search engine in the face of looming competition from Google and others. The new Bing uses an advanced version of ChatGPT maker OpenAI’s large language model to deliver search results in the form of conversations.

Microsoft says the AI features will be available starting later today in the Bing and Edge mobile apps for people who’ve been admitted into the preview.

As of this morning, Microsoft says it has made the preview of the Bing and Edge AI features available to more than 1 million people in 169 countries who signed up for the waitlist.
