Daniel Li is leaving Seattle venture capital firm Madrona Venture Group to launch a new startup.

Li, who joined Madrona in 2015 and was promoted to partner in January, is leading a new company called Plus. He’s joined by Chloe Qi, a former colleague at Boston Consulting Group who previously worked at Bay Area startup Webflow.

The co-founders aren’t sharing much about the new startup, which Li said “sits squarely at the center of two of my core investment themes at Madrona: no code/low code and ‘multiplayer’ productivity.'”

“The goal for the initial product is building an easy way for customers to see and share live data from any other tool,” he added.

The company raised a $5.5 million seed round led by Madrona. Other backers include Positive Sum, along with some of the founders and CEOs from companies such as Smartsheet, Evernote, Auth0, Qumulo, and Rec Room.

Li, who also writes the DL newsletter about Pacific Northwest startups, said he will “still be part of the Madrona family” and remain a venture partner at the firm, which raised $345 million for its 8th fund in December.

Li spoke about the power of online communities and his other favorite investment themes on a recent GeekWire podcast, 2025: Today, Tomorrow. Listen below, and subscribe to 2025: Tomorrow, Today in any podcast app to catch future episodes.
