Network security startup ExtraHop added two new executives ahead of a potential IPO in 2020. Sri Sundaralingam joined as vice president of product and solutions marketing. He previously held product marketing roles at Symantec, Shape Security and other cybersecurity startups in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Phil Shigo is also joining the company as vice president of business development and strategic alliances. Shigo is the founder of GYST, a service to create and store end-of-life plans, and a Microsoft alum who worked most recently at software analytics company New Relic.

“As ExtraHop continues to extend our market leadership in security and expand our SaaS business, we’re seeking out talent to help us get to the next level,” said Arif Kareem, CEO, ExtraHop. “Phil and Sri embody these qualities, bringing years of industry experience in their respective fields that will help us accelerate our growth in 2020 and beyond.”

In July 2019 ExtraHop appointed Bill Ruckelshaus, the former CEO of Blucora, as chief financial officer. ExtraHop is currently ranked No. 19 on the GeekWire 200, up from No. 23 a year ago. Kareem told GeekWire earlier this year that ExtraHop is primed for the public market.

Cynthia Mason joined Wyze Labs as SVP of people and culture. Mason previously held people operations and HR roles at other Seattle-area startups including Glowforge, Pixvana and buuteeq, which was acquired by Booking.com.

Responsible for all facets of people operations and the employee experience, Mason joined the two-year old startup during a period of rapid growth.

Wyze Labs is currently dealing with the aftermath of a data leak reported last week that exposed customer information.

— There’s been another leadership change at Boeing. J. Michael Luttig, counselor and senior advisor to the board of directors, will retire at the end of 2019. Luttig managed the legal matters associated with the fatal 737 Max crashes in Indonesia and Ethiopia.

Luttig’s departure is the latest in a series of changes across Boeing’s leadership. The news comes days after Boeing fired CEO Dennis Muilenburg and a longtime supplier filed a lawsuit against the aerospace giant.

Damon Cortesi. (Damon Cortesi Photo)

Damon Cortesi, co-founder of Simply Measured, is now head of success engineering at San Francisco-based Metabase. He originally used the open source business intelligence tool as a customer. In his new role, he will be working remotely in Seattle on customer experience and solution engineering for Metabase.

“I first started using Metabase in 2016 as part of building an internal business intelligence pipeline at my previous startup. I fell in love with the product and have been a fan ever since,” Cortesi said. “As the product has gotten better and better, it felt like the right time for me to make the leap back into startups.”

After Sprout Social acquired Simply Measured in 2017, Cortesi worked as a data architect for AWS.

David Betz. (David Betz Photo)

Former Microsoft Creative Director David Betz joined law firm Fenwick & West as senior manager of brand and creative services.

Prior to Microsoft, Betz was vice president of storytelling at UP Global, the organization that ran Startup Weekend, Startup Week, Startup Next and the Startup Digest programs before being acquired by Techstars.

“Fenwick’s in-house team is as forward-thinking and resourceful as the entrepreneurs they serve,” Betz said. “It’s cool to see startups and big tech from a service perspective.”

Fenwick & West’s clients include Amazon, Cisco, Facebook, Intuit and Symantec.
