Reddit is partnering with Seattle-area startup Tagboard to get its content on TV broadcasts. It’s the first deal of its kind for Reddit, which has more than 430 million monthly active users.

  • Tagboard helps companies get social media posts onto broadcasts, big screens at stadiums, and other platforms. Broadcasters including NFL Network and TEGNA are already using the new Reddit integration.
  • Tagboard has partnered with other social media and tech companies in the past, including Twitter, Snap, and Eventbrite. The company launched in 2011 and has raised less than $3 million. It is ranked No. 147 on the GeekWire 200 list of top Pacific Northwest startups.
  • This is Reddit’s latest foray into news-related features. Past tests include a livestreaming service and a news tab on its mobile app. “Our partnership with Tagboard enables Reddit’s unique content to be credited and distributed by television networks around the world for on-air storytelling purposes,” Reddit’s Senior Director of Business Development & Media Partnerships Alexandra Riccomini said in a statement. “We anticipate this partnership will empower broadcasters to share Reddit content regularly while also showcasing Reddit’s power of community and belonging.”
