Seattle-based company AppViewX just raised $30 million to help expand its networking automation technology, GeekWire has learned.
Brighton Park Capital, a new private equity firm based in Greenwich, Conn., was the sole investor in the Series A round.
“This funding will enable us to accelerate innovation, expand our global footprint, and strengthen our position in the market,” CEO Ryan Windham said in an email.
The company’s “low-code” products help manage and automate application delivery, certificate lifecycles and network security in a world where networking infrastructure is being managed by software more than ever. The AppViewX platform gives users a dashboard view of their network operations and can manage security policies across a network.
AppViewX partners with major cloud providers including AWS and Azure as well as dozens of other technology firms such as F5 Networks and Citrix to create new products. As part of the low-code mantra, the company aims to make interfaces that are visual and intuitive to use.
The increased complexity of networks has helped to fuel demand for network automation, a market that is expected to grow 20 percent annually and reach $21.6 billion by 2024, according to a report by Market Reports World.
AppViewX was spun out of tech firm Payoda in 2016. At the time, former F5 Networks CEO Manny Rivelo came aboard to lead AppViewX as it relocated to Seattle from Texas.
Rivelo left in January 2018 to become the chief sales officer at Arista Networks. AppViewX founder Anand Purusothaman, who originally started the company a decade ago, took over as CEO. Later in 2018, Windham was named CEO after helping lead Portland-based Cedexis’ acquisition by Citrix. Purusothaman now serves as the company’s chief technology officer.
Mark Dzialga, the former managing director of General Atlantic, launched Brighton Park Capital earlier this year. As part of the investment, Brighton Capital partners Mike Gregoire and Zach Gut will join the board of AppViewX. Gregoire is the former CEO of CA Technologies and Gut was a vice president at Summit Partners.
Larry Biagini, former General Electric CTO and current chief technology evangelist at ZScaler, has joined AppViewX as a special advisor.
AppViewX has 300 employees with offices in New York, Seattle, London and India.
