Nine months after joining Haven, the healthcare joint venture between Amazon, JPMorgan Chase and Berkshire Hathaway, COO Jack Stoddard has left the company.

“Jack played an important role in the early stages of Haven, but we understand his decision to leave the company for family reasons. We want to thank him for all of his contributions,” a company spokesperson said a statement.

Prior to signing on with Haven, Stoddard was general manager of digital health at Comcast. Before that, he was on the founding team of health technology company Accolade, which was taken over by Concur co-founders Raj Singh and Mike Hilton in 2016. Stoddard spent eight years as Accolade’s COO and chief strategy officer.

Stoddard reportedly told CNBC, who first reported the news, that the decision was in part a result of the length of his commute from Philadelphia to Boston, where Haven is headquartered.

His appointment was first revealed last September, three months after surgeon and writer Atul Gawande was selected as the venture’s CEO. He was the company’s second employee.

Haven has since named several other executives, including:

  • Michael Higgins, chief information security officer
  • Serkan Kutan, chief technology officer
  • Megan McLean, chief of staff
  • Dana Safran, head of measurement
  • Liam Brenner, acting head of finance
  • Mary Jane Favazza, general manager
  • Brooke Thurston, head of communications

The company revealed its name and gave a better idea of its focus in March, but has yet to announce specific initiatives in the healthcare space.
