Various tools and apps exist in an effort to better inform home shoppers about schools, restaurants, crime, transit, walkability and much more in the neighborhoods where they may want to live. Now Trulia, the real estate site that is part of Seattle-based Zillow Group, is introducing Trulia Neighborhoods to give an even more genuine feel for what it’s like to live someplace.
Trulia calls Neighborhoods a “first-of-its-kind experience sharing crowdsourced local knowledge, original photography, and drone footage,” with the hope that more neighborly knowledge will help prospective renters or buyers truly discover a place they want to call home.
While the nitty-gritty about safety and school reviews and commutes is in there, Neighborhoods promises to go a step further with “intangibles such as vibe, friendliness and street noise,” according to a news release Tuesday.
“Prior to Trulia Neighborhoods, there wasn’t a resource that showed consumers what life is really like in a neighborhood,” Tim Correia, senior vice president and general manager Trulia, said in a statement. “Our research found consumers were determined to find this type of information and even developed a series of hacks to source these valuable insights. It was clear it was time to rebuild the home and neighborhood discovery experience from the ground up and empower consumers with all the information to make the best decision for themselves.”
The product comes on the heels of other Trulia releases this year, including What Locals Say and Local Legal Protections.
Trulia Neighborhoods is launching nationally in more than 300 neighborhoods in San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, Austin, and Chicago. The company says more than 1,100 additional enhanced neighborhoods will be introduced throughout 2018.
