The Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers will show off their brand of “multiplayer entertainment” in a “Thursday Night Football” clash tonight. And one of the most popular gamers in the world will get in on the action by co-streaming the event on Twitch, the platform owned by Amazon.
Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, who has more than 12 million followers on Twitch, will join in the fun for the last “TNF” game of the season. Other Twitch personalities such as Jericho, TimTheTatman, and GoldGlove will also co-stream to their followers.
Co-streaming is just another feature Twitch unveiled for its broadcast of 11 NFL games this season. Extensions, the ability to virtually cheer for charity, and special emotes (Twitch-native emojis) are other highlights. GeekWire reviewed the experience back in October.
Ninja’s co-streaming will allow him to add original live commentary to broadcasts as it’s streamed to his own community, resulting in “the ultimate fan-as-commentator experience,” Twitch said Thursday.
“Playing video games is just one of my passions,” Blevins said in a news release. “I’m also a lifelong NFL fan, which runs in my family. It’s cool to be able to co-stream and commentate a ‘Thursday Night Football’ game for my Twitch community and connect with them over other interests like this.”
