Google took a turn in the cloud doghouse Tuesday afternoon, after several issues forced popular consumer sites like Spotify, Snapchat, and Pokemon Go offline for about 40 minutes.
Users started complaining about problems around 1230pm PT, and Google acknowledged the issues on its status page. Three separate issues were identified with Google App Engine, which hosts apps and web sites; Google Cloud Networking, which returned several errors after a load balancer apparently lost its balance; and Google Stackdriver, which helps you monitor the health of your cloud infrastructure.
Spotify and Snapchat are two of Google’s most prominent cloud customers, and both spend some time Tuesday afternoon reassuring users that their services would be back soon.

The outage was resolved around 1pm and Google sounded an all-clear about 20 minutes later. No cause of the outage was identified, but Google said it would put together an explanation of what happened.
The brief outage comes one day after Amazon experienced several hours of issues with its Prime Day festivities, but unlike that case, this time the cloud provider was at fault.
