Smartsheet plans to announce upgrades to its work collaboration software Tuesday at its Engage customer conference, including new features for teams managing complex sales funnels and role-based access controls to make sure the right people are using the right documents.

The new Accelerator for Customer Engagements will join a growing number of accelerators — custom packages that Smartsheet users can add to their installations — and provide users with an easier way to manage long or tricky sales cycles, which is a common problem for business-to-business sales organizations. Smartsheet will also now work with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Tableau’s sales and marketing software, helping companies transitioning between the two platforms or looking to share data between them.

“Business users and IT are seeking and deploying the tools that are best fit for the job,” said Smartsheet CEO Mark Mader said during his opening keynote address Tuesday in Bellevue. Gone are the days in which enterprise software vendors could force their customers to use their products only in certain ways; these days, tech buyers want flexibility and interoperability, and enterprise software vendors across the board have reacted to that demand.

Smartsheet also plans to announce a new role-based access control system that gives administrators fine-grained control over who can access certain documents and sheets. Smartsheet Dynamic View could allow companies to share parts of their workflow with outside contributors or collaborators while keeping the juicy stuff under wraps internally.

And it will also make it easier for users to manage sheets with lots of rules that trigger additional actions with a new visual interface, rather than forcing them to manage such sheets with text.

“As our business has grown, and we’ve expanded to a broader set of workflows and use cases, we’ve really come to understand the importance of scale,” said Smartsheet senior vice president of product Gene Farrell, who you may remember from the dispute over his departure from Amazon Web Services that highlighted the problems with non-compete clauses.

This will be Smartsheet’s first major customer conference since going public in April, and its stock is up 55 percent from its opening price as of Tuesday morning. Revenue grew 63 percent last quarter compared to the prior year, as more and more companies sign up for Smartsheet’s workflow services.

In addition, Smartsheet announced that it has received the coveted FedRAMP Connect (Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program ) certification, allowing it to sell its services into government organizations.
