Forget the dorms, Bill and Melinda Gates appear to be ready to set their son Rory up with prime housing if he is indeed planning to attend the University of Chicago in the fall.

Reports out of Chicago Tuesday are naming the Gates family as the apparent buyers of a $1.25 million mansion in the city’s South Side Hyde Park neighborhood. The five-bedroom, 3,000-square-foot house was purchased through a land trust on April 4, according to the Chicago Tribune.

A Seattle attorney who represents the Gates family in property transactions is listed on the property’s deed as trustee, the Tribune reported, and tax bills will be sent to an office location near Seattle, owned by the Gates’s business interests.

Students interviewed by the CBS affiliate in Chicago said that Rory Gates had been previously spotted touring the campus and speculation was that he would be attending the school.

The three-story brick home was listed by Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices KoenigRubloff. The Tribune said it has 4 1/2 baths, a new roof, new windows, new wood floors, video surveillance with five exterior cameras, a kitchen with quartz countertops, built-in Viking appliances and custom cabinets, and a new brick garage that holds 3 1/2 cars.
