Inside the spaceship-themed office of Axon.

Police body camera maker Axon is expanding its Seattle office to accommodate a growing headcount.

The company said it recently picked up an additional floor at the Metropolitan Park West building to supplement its current office there, which won “Geekiest Office Space” at the 2016 GeekWire Awards. The new 20,000-square-foot space gives Axon 32,000 square feet in the building and room for a total of 210 employees.

Today, fast-growing Axon employs about 150 people in Seattle, up from about 50 in 2015. Axon said it plans to hire approximately 50 more people in Seattle this year.

Axon started as Taser International in 1993. Axon originally launched as a business unit, but in April rebranded the company under the Axon name to reflect its focus on body cameras and the supporting evidence management software.

In addition to body cameras, Axon offers a catalog of smart weapons as well as a digital evidence management platform. Axon says, as of the third quarter of last year, 38 of the nation’s 68 largest city law enforcement agencies have purchased body cameras or use its evidence platform.
