Oh, great, more Russian propaganda. Only this time it appears it was the Russians who were fooled by some fake moves.
A human dressed in a robot costume reportedly danced for the audience at an event celebrating Russian technology advancement and was convincing enough to garner a real story from a state-run news channel.
Vice reported on “Boris the Robot” and his moves on Wednesday. The video is clearly not what we’ve come to expect from humanoid robots such as those created by Boston Dynamics. You know, the ones that do calculated backflips and parkour, alongside their scary robot dogs.
Rossiya 24 said in a video story, which was eventually taken down, that Boris was “one of the most advanced robots in the world.”
If his moves were’t a big enough clue, at least one angle of the costume provided the necessary proof that Boris was indeed more man than machine. The neck of the person inside could be seen through a gap in the costume.
