In a move to expand its existing service technology, Omaha, Neb.-based telecommunications company West Corporation announced Friday that it agreed to acquire Seattle-based Flowroute.
Financial terms of the deal weren’t disclosed. Flowroute provides a cloud-based, voice-over-Internet service to businesses. Its service allows developers and enterprises to integrate and manage calling and messaging more easily. In a press release, West Corporation CEO John Shlonsky said Flowroute’s HyperNetwork service would bring a cloud-based communication system into the company’s fold.
“We are excited to continue to enhance West’s cloud-based offerings through both innovation and acquisition, providing customers with a broad product set of West solutions,” West Corporation president Rob Wechsler said in a statement.
Flowroute CEO Eric Harber said in an email to GeekWire that the company would operate as a separate business unit under West Corporation. Flowroute expects its Seattle operation to keep growing.
“One of the primary reasons West acquired Flowroute was because of the strength and experience of the Flowroute team,” Harber said. “Our team will stay intact and we are growing. We have a number of key roles open right now.”
According to Wechsler, Flowroute is the sixth complementary acquisition West Corporation has made in a year.
Bayan Towfiq co-founded Flowroute in 2007 and stepped down from the CEO position in January. Harber, who was the COO and president, replaced him.
The deal is expected to close in the third quarter of 2018.
