A new competitor in Seattle’s burger battle will step into the ring on Saturday, Oct. 6, as Shake Shack plans to open its first location in Washington state.
The New York-based chain’s new fast food restaurant will be located at 2115 Westlake Ave., near Amazon’s headquarters in the South Lake Union neighborhood and the many thousands of workers employed by the tech giant.

Shake Shack touted special menu items and local partnerships in a news release on Thursday announcing the opening date, including:
- The Montlake Double Cut, a Seattle-exclusive burger developed in partnership with Crowd Cow, the Seattle-based online meat retailer. The burger features a Washington state all-natural beef double cheeseburger with Beecher’s “Just Jack” cheese, caramelized onions and grainy mustard mayo on a Macrina Bakery bun.
- Regional beers will include offerings from Fremont Brewing, Black Raven Brewing, Aslan Brewing Co. and Reuben’s Brews
- Frozen custard treats from Sea Wolf, Theo’s and A la Mode
The 3,015-square foot restaurant will feature an outdoor patio.
Shake Shake enters Seattle as a cult favorite elsewhere in the U.S., on par with the California-based chain In-N-Out. It will take on longtime Seattle favorite Dick’s Drive-In as well as Red Mill Burgers, Kidd Valley, Li’l Woody’s, Burgermaster and others. Great State Burger has also made a push, with one of its locations at the base of an Amazon office tower.
Shake Shack will open at 11 a.m. on Oct. 6 and the first 100 people in line when doors open will receive a custom Shake Shack Seattle T-shirt.
