The New York Times reported late Tuesday that Uber CEO and co-founder Travis Kalanick has resigned. NYT reporter Mike Isaac noted that in a letter sent to Kalanick, major Uber investors — firms like Benchmark, Menlo Ventures, First Round Capital, and others — demanded that the CEO step down. Kalanick recently took a leave of absence from the company after his mother passed away and following several scandals at Uber that resulted in an investigation into the company’s culture. He will remain on the board. See the full story here. Meanwhile, Dan Primack of Axios notes some possible replacements for Kalanick, including “free agents” such as former Google executive Nikesh Arora, former Twitter COO Adam Bain, former Zenefits CEO David Sacks and former Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer.
