This is escalating quickly.

Today, three judges from the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals will hear oral arguments to determine whether or not President Trump’s immigration ban will be reinstated.

The ban resulted from an executive order, in which the president temporarily halted U.S. entry of citizens from seven mostly Muslim countries and suspended Syrian refugee immigration indefinitely. Washington state and Minnesota sued the Trump administration over the ban and sought a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) to stop its implementation until it could be litigated. A federal judge in Seattle granted the TRO, sparking a fast-moving legal back-and-forth that brings us to today’s hearing.

The case will be heard by Judge William C. Canby Jr. (from Phoenix, Ariz.), Judge Richard Clifton (of Honolulu, Hawaii), and Judge Michelle T. Friedland (from the Bay Area).

Whatever the decision, it will almost certainly be appealed to the Supreme Court.

The hearing, which starts at 3 p.m. PST, will take place entirely over the phone, so only audio is available for streaming. Listen to the video above or visit the court’s website to tune in. GeekWire will also be live blogging the hearing.
