There’s probably better coffee out there than traditional truck stop coffee. But what if the truck is a Starbucks truck, and the stop is the coffee giant’s corporate headquarters in Seattle?
The company has officially opened a Starbucks Mobile Truck just outside of Starbucks Center in the city’s SoDo neighborhood. The dark green truck offers the same menu available in a traditional Starbucks cafe and also accepts mobile orders. It’s the first of its kind in the Pacific Northwest, the company said, and is one of 12 such vehicles currently in operation.
The first trucks were introduced in 2014 and can be found in locations such as universities, airports and travel plazas. A few specific examples include Rutgers University, the Charlotte Airport and the Molly Pitcher travel plaza in New Jersey.
Starbucks decided to turn its headquarters plaza into a truck stop because the store in the lobby of the building is currently being renovated and converted to one of its new Reserve locations. The truck, which is open daily until 3 p.m., will remain in place until construction is finished later this year.
