They’re gaining on you, HBO.
As a collective, streaming television services are making another awards season push, with Netflix, Amazon and Hulu nipping at the heels of perennial powerhouse HBO with the announcement Monday morning of the Golden Globe nominations.
HBO led all TV network nominees with 12 nods, mostly on the strength of the short series “Big Little Lies.” The drama starring Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman earned six nominations.
Netflix followed with nine total nominations, with shows such as “Stranger Things,” “Master of None,” “The Crown” and “Ozark” in the mix. The streaming service earned five nominations last year.

Amazon, which also had five nominations last year, managed three on Monday, but not for the shows it has regularly relied on — “Transparent” and “Mozart in the Jungle.” This time around, “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” landed two nominations and Kevin Bacon got nominated for “I Love Dick.”
Hulu stunned the TV awards world when it took home the Emmy for best drama over the summer for “The Handmaid’s Tale.” The streaming service picked up three nods on Monday, all for the critically acclaimed drama, including acting nominations for stars Elisabeth Moss and Ann Dowd.
