Gamers are excited about the “world’s most powerful console.”

Microsoft on Sunday opened pre-orders for its new Xbox One X — specifically, the “Project Scorpio Edition,” an ode to the console’s original codename.

Most retailers, from GameSpot to Amazon to Best Buy to the Microsoft Store, were sold out Monday. Some physical Microsoft Store locations were still taking pre-orders in person, according to Microsoft’s Major Nelson:

The Xbox One X, first unveiled in June, launches Nov. 7 and retails for $499. It’s essentially a more-powerful version of the existing Xbox One, which launched in November 2013, rather than a next-generation device.

Microsoft describes the Xbox One X as the “most powerful console” thanks to a 6 teraflop GPU, clocked at 1.172 Ghz, 12GB of GDDR5 graphics memory and 326 GB/s of memory bandwidth. It will support 4K video, with 8 million pixels and high-dynamic range (HDR). Xbox One X will also be the smallest Xbox the company has built.

Microsoft says all Xbox One accessories and games will work on Xbox One X — there also won’t be “exclusive” titles made only for the Xbox One X — and games will be more vivid with faster load times. A technique called supersampling will look better on 1080p displays, not just 4K screens, according to the company. The console uses a liquid-cooled vapor chamber normally reserved for computer servers.

The Xbox One X joins Microsoft’s existing Xbox One and Xbox One S consoles. Microsoft competes with Sony and its $399 Playstation 4 Pro.
