Team GeekWire is looking for a second home.

In less time than it takes to have an Amazon Prime package delivered, the deadline for GeekWire HQ2 submissions will be here. Cities have until Friday, Nov. 17 at midnight to respond to our Request for Proposals (RFP) and have the chance to land the second headquarters of America’s scrappiest tech news site.

It’s an opportunity to host GeekWire’s temporary second headquarters for the month of February 2018, where we’ll cover the community’s technology scene, including its challenges and opportunities, innovations, leaders and its outlook on the future. We’ll also take this opportunity to evaluate the winning city’s chances of landing another iconic Seattle company seeking a second home.

Municipal governments around the country from the Rockies to the North Atlantic have entered the fray — though we’ve yet to see a proposal that promises to create the City of GeekWire.

GeekWire will locate one reporter in the chosen city for the full month of February and give the rest of our staff the opportunity to choose between our hometown of Seattle and HQ2. Our reporters will produce written stories, photos, videos, social media, and more content that will introduce readers to the innovative companies, entrepreneurs, organizations, and other leaders contributing to the chosen region’s growth.

For more details on our criteria, check out our RFP and see the GeekWire HQ2 site. If you represent a city or regional economic development organization, be sure to submit your proposal by Friday, Nov. 17 to be considered. We intentionally left the guidelines for proposals vague — we encourage you to think big and creatively. Submissions can be as short as a paragraph or as long as six pages or more. It doesn’t take a lot of words to convince us to come to your city, just the right words!

We will make our final site selection and public announcement in December. Continue reading for our full RFP document. We look forward to hearing from you.
