John Case

John Case, the former corporate vice president of global marketing, product management, and business teams for Office and Office 365, has been named CEO of Unify Square, according to his LinkedIn profile and a bio added to the company’s Web site.

Case spent 18 years at Microsoft prior to taking the job at Unify Square, which makes unified communication software for Skype for Business. At Microsoft, Case led the rollout of Skype for Business.

Before Microsoft, he worked at Monitor Company and Verizon. An active angel investor, he holds a degree in economics from Dartmouth College.

“Given my background in this space, I expect to onboard and transition quickly, to help Unify Square grow and expand our capabilities,” Case said in a press release.

Unify Square reeled in reeled in a $3.9 million round from existing investors last year, pushing total funding in the 10-year-old Bellevue, Wash.-based company to $33 million. It employs 125 people.

Unify Square is a longtime partner of Microsoft, where founder and former CEO Sonu Aggarwal once worked on the product roadmap and development for Live Communications Server and Office Communications Server – projects that preceded Lync, or what is now known as Skype for Business. Aggarawal plans to remain on the company’s board.
