ReachNow users who own an Alexa-enabled device can now find out information about nearby vehicles using just their voice. BMW’s car-sharing service, available in Seattle, Portland, and Brooklyn, today launched a new Alexa skill for Amazon’s voice platform. It lets you ask questions like:

  • “Alexa, ask ReachNow where the closest ReachNow car is.”
  • “Alexa, ask ReachNow where the closest BMW X1 is.”
  • “Alexa, ask ReachNow how many MINIs there are within a 10 minute walk?”

To enable the skill, go to the Skills section in your Alexa app, search for “ReachNow,” and click “Enable.” You’ll need to allow the skill to access your device address via the settings tab.

The new feature originally started as a capstone project from a ReachNow intern who is now a full-time employee. ReachNow is headquartered in Seattle and launched locally a little more than a year ago. It has 45,000 members across the three cities.
