Customer-relationship management giant Salesforce has agreed to buy HeyWire, a privately held, Cambridge, Mass.-based provider of cloud-based commercial texting services for toll-free and office customer-support and sales phone numbers. Terms weren’t disclosed.

The HeyWire team is looking forward “to ushering in new levels of customer engagement through conversational messaging within the Salesforce Service Cloud,” wrote Meredith Flynn-Ripley, HeyWire’s CEO and co-founder, in a blog post announcing the sale.

HeyWire is already “a member of the Salesforce ecosystem” and now “will bring this new communications channel to the Salesforce Service Cloud with fully integrated mobile messaging capabilities that enable companies to connect with their customers in entirely new ways,” Flynn-Ripley said in the post.

The purchase is Salesforce’s second of the month and ninth of the year, according to CrunchBase. The company’s earnings report for the period ended July 31 declared that “we expect to continue to make acquisitions in the future, and we plan to reinvest a significant portion of our incremental revenue to grow our business.”
