Trending: Earthquake experts lay out latest outlook for the ‘Really Big One’ that’ll hit Seattle

The on-demand convenience store delivery startup goPuff — which promises thousands of products at your fingertips in 30 minutes — is adding beer and wine to the list with the launch of goBooze in Seattle this week.

The service joins a crowded market of companies that offer to save you a trip to the store and bring booze to your door. Amazon’s Prime Now began delivering alcohol last summer and Drizly launched in Seattle in 2014.

GoPuff, which is now available in nine U.S. cities, said it already ships common convenience store items “such as ice cream, phone chargers, condoms and even Plan B.” The company claims it does so faster and more cost-efficiently than competitors such as Instacart and Postmates because it has local warehouses in each city.

“GoPuff is the ultimate convenience service and the only app that can bring over 3,000 products including alcohol, food and everyday essentials to your door in less than 30 minutes,” founders Rafael Ilishayev and Yakir Gola said in a statement to GeekWire. “We only charge a flat rate $1.95 for delivery, which is waived for orders over $49. Other services charge a $5-10 delivery fee and pose delivery times of an hour or more. We can boast such a unique business model by employing smaller, strategically-placed warehouses in the centers of metropolitan areas. The goPuff service is all about convenience and, in our opinion, waiting an hour for your goods for a steep delivery fee is simply not convenient.”

All goPuff items are sold at normal convenience store prices, according to the company, and with goBooze in Seattle, the company plans to offer “classic wines and beers” as well as favorites from “local breweries.”

The startup was co-founded in Philadelphia in 2014 by Ilishayev and Gola when they were Drexel University students.
