DULLES — A nationwide computer glitch is causing havoc for United Airlines travelers across the U.S., with planes unable to take off from airports from Orlando to Washington D.C. to San Francisco.
I am painfully aware of this.
My Seattle-bound flight is now stuck on the tarmac at Washington D.C.’s Dulles airport. Our pilot had little information, simply telling passengers on the Boeing 737-900 that a computer glitch in Chicago caused the issue.
We were supposed to take off at 8:25 a.m, just over an hour ago.
We will keep you posted, as long as I have information to share (and reliable Internet).
UPDATE: Just got word they figured it out, and we are off. Looking forward to returning to Seattle.
UPDATE 10:05 a.m.: Now on the in-flight Wi-Fi. Here is the official word from United.
We began delaying flights at approx. 8 a.m. CT to ensure aircraft departed with proper dispatch information. Flights are now departing.
