uber seattle11Uber’s newest marketing tactic in Seattle: TV ads.

The ride-hailing giant is running commercials in the Seattle market to recruit more drivers to its platform.

The 30-second spot, which you can view on iSpot.tv, features interviews with drivers who rave about the flexibility and extra cash that comes from working for Uber. They include a student, a real estate broker, a pizzeria owner, and others. Some say they’ve been able to pay for school or buy a house after working for Uber.

One driver, Dori Guy, said she’s racked up 7,600 rides in the past 21 months.

“Uber is not my boss,” she says in the commercial. “Uber is my partner.”

The ad encourages interested drivers to go to driveuberseattle.com.

Uber has run similar ads on the radio in Seattle and other markets across the U.S. The company, which has raised north of $5 billion, spent millions of dollars on TV ads in New York City this summer.

Meanwhile, a former Washington state Uber driver last week filed a lawsuit alleging he was wrongfully classified as an independent contractor by the ride-hailing company, meaning he hasn’t received compensation and employee benefits he’s owed, according to court records.

Uber is also butting heads with Port of Seattle officials over the right to pick up passengers at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
