Shell’s Polar Pioneer oil rig has only been in town a day, but already it is tweeting up a storm.
Or at least, the person/s who set up the faux Twitter account for the highly contentious oil rig are tweeting up a storm.
While many protestors and kayakers will continue to take to the waters and streets this weekend, this Twitter account will likely keep firing off gems like this, the Polar Pioneer’s very first “tweet”:
DESTROY ALL HUMANS #PolarPioneer #myfirstTweet
— Polar Pioneer (@Polar_Pioneer) May 15, 2015
Written from the perspective of the oil rig, the Twitter account has just over 230 followers in under 24 hours, and has engaged in over 70 tweets, especially engaging with media outlets and others close to the oil rig news.
@AmandaGraceTV @KING5Seattle I'd tell you to be sure to get my good side, but they're all my good side.

@strangerslog He gets my vote, and probably my money.

@Mynorthwest Try to stop me! Oh, that right, you did. Ha!

And while this is serious business no doubt — see the King5 report below — using humor and technology in protest is quite a clever move. Well played, @Polar_Pioneer. We’ll be following you.
