This week on the GeekWire radio show and podcast, we talk about our favorite apps for book lovers, gamers, photographers, home cooks, people who like to send holiday cards, and more.

Plus, a fun debate over the relative merits of Gmail vs. Outlook.

Our special guests on this week’s show are GeekWire digital producer Monica Nickelsburg and chief business officer Daniel Rossi; and Kevin Lisota, CEO of real estate company Findwell and a regular GeekWire contributor.

Listen above and continue reading for links to our favorite apps.

Monica uses BigOven for recipes and coordinating her shopping trips, and she’s a big fan of Venmo for splitting up expenses with friends and roommates.

Daniel recommends the OverDrive app for borrowing e-books from public libraries, and 3DBrick Breaker by Digital Chocolate for a great distraction. (He’s currently going for a billion points.)

Kevin likes the Photographer’s Ephemeris for understanding the timing of sunrises and moon rises, to get perfect pictures. He also likes the PayByPhone app for parking in Seattle.

And I’m a fan of the Sincerely Ink app for sending holiday cards to friends and family.

Thanks for listening everyone! We have a surprise in store for next week’s show, including a chance for you to be in the audience. Stay tuned for details on Monday.
