surfacepro4Looks like business is booming for the new Surface tablets. Microsoft announced today that the new Surface Pro 4 has seen a faster adoption rate among businesses than any other previous Surface version.

Microsoft currently has 13 institutions already signed up for the new Surface Pro 4 ahead of the Oct. 26 launch date. While that might not seem like a lot, business are usually very late adopters, waiting to buy fleets of machines until after bugs have been worked out and manufacturing hiccups have subsided.

Business customers include members of the financial, retail and education sectors, including AstraZeneca, the Carlyle Group and Brighton College International in the UK. Microsoft didn’t disclose how many Surface Pro 4 tablets each customer is buying.

Microsoft is also making it easier for other business clients to purchase its flagship tablets with an expansion of its business reseller channel. The company started expanding to resellers who reach small business owners, educational institutions and local governments back in July, and today announced that there are more than 5,000 resellers in 30 global markets who can provide those customers with the Surface Pro 4.

The company also announced a new “Microsoft Complete for Enterprise” program today. The warranty service makes it easier for business customers to get devices serviced while still protected by warranties.

Businesses who are already using a Surface or other device will have an easier time upgrading as well. The new business device trade-in program lets customers trade in business-owned laptops, tablets and phones for credit toward an order of new Surface tablets. The trade-in program will be available in the coming weeks, the company says.
