nexusUsers who signed up for Google’s own wireless network may be waiting quite a while. The search giant sent out an email to people who registered for its Project Fi saying that they won’t get through all the requests until July or August.

In the month since the announcement, Google has been slowly rolling out service to people who registered. The company sent a message to those who have yet to receive service, saying in part, “We’re sending invites as quickly as we can, while ensuring a high-quality experience. Given the number of requests we’ve received, we currently estimate that it will take until mid-summer to get to everyone.”

In the coming weeks, Google also plans to introduce a tool to let registered users see where they are in line, giving them a rough estimate of when they can switch to the service.

Project Fi combines service from T-Mobile and Sprint along with a secure connection to more than a million Wi-Fi networks to power the new wireless network. Users will pay $20 per month for unlimited voice and texting, plus $10 per gigabyte of data, for service to their Nexus 6. Unused data will result in a refund, so users never have to pay for data they don’t use.
