twitch2Video game streaming is shaping up to be big business. Twitch announced today that the service saw 100 million unique viewers in December, up from 45 million monthly unique viewers in 2013.

It has been a banner year for the company, which was acquired by Amazon last year for $970 million. It’s currently the nexus for users’ newfound interest in game streaming, with 1.5 million unique broadcasters per month, and 11 million total videos broadcast per month.

That’s a significant sign for the health of the video game streaming market, and shows that the company has a lot of growth potential, especially as more people become interested in watching folks play video games on the internet.

All of this is good news for the service, which remains the leader in a burgeoning market. The company has made a couple of big moves over the past two months, acquiring “eSports Agency” GoodGame and releasing a new list of music that broadcasters can play royalty-free while they stream.
