The image above is what Kam Chancellor’s 90-yard interception return for a touchdown looked like on television as the Seattle Seahawks rolled to a 31-17 win over the Carolina Panthers tonight in the NFL playoffs.
And here’s what the same moment looked like on the seismograph, from instruments that Pacific Northwest Seismic Network scientists installed at Seattle’s CenturyLink Field for the game. The project aims to help the seismologists better detect real earthquakes and provide earlier warnings for the public.
