ballmer-headshotSteve Ballmer certainly learned a lot from leading Microsoft for 14 years. Now, he’ll pass on that knowledge to MBA students.

Ballmer, who stepped down from Microsoft’s board on Tuesday, will teach a class called “Leading Organizations” at Stanford this fall. Business Insider reports that the former Microsoft CEO will also teach at USC’s Marshall School of Business next year.

At Stanford, Ballmer will be working with faculty member Susan Athey, who has been a consultant to Microsoft since 2007. According to Business Insider, the pair will teach an 80-student course that “looks at lots of different perspectives on a CEO’s role on creating value in an organization.”

Ballmer, who is still Microsoft’s largest individual shareholder, wrote on Tuesday that new commitments like teaching, civic contribution, and his new role as an NBA team owner figured into his decision to step down from Microsoft’s board.

Ballmer will undoubtedly have lots of lessons to share with his MBA students. He has already been offering up advice since retiring from Microsoft in February, having keynoted the commencement speeches at both the University of Washington and USC.
