microsoftxim1Microsoft today updated its Xim photo-sharing app with support for a variety of streaming devices, giving users more ways to send photos from their smartphone to other screens.

Xim, which debuted in October, is an app available for iOSAndroid, and Windows devices which lets you create photo slideshows that can be shared across multiple screens at the same time.

Now, though, the new display support means you can share those photos to a big screen that has an Apple TV, Google Chromecast, Amazon Fire TV, Amazon Fire TV Stick, Xbox One, or PC connected to it.

Created inside Microsoft Research, Xim allows users to pull up to 50 photos from a phone or cloud service and package them into a shareable slideshow. The idea is to provide a better way for people to share images with friends and family without having to huddle around one device, or an alternative for those that don’t want to post certain photos to a social media service.
