There are three words that make a very particular subset of people very excited: new developer tools. For them, a Microsoft event next month will be a must-see.

S. Somasegar, who heads up Microsoft’s Developer Division, announced a new event for developers today called Connect. The physical event will be invite-only, but interested developers will be able to stream key sessions while they happen in New York on November 12. On November 13, Microsoft will host live sessions from its Redmond campus taking a deeper dive into the newest tools available.

A discussion of the future of Visual Studio, Microsoft’s development environment, will be at the core of the event, along with other tools including Azure and .NET. It’s an important moment for Windows developers, especially as Microsoft moves towards the launch of Windows 10. The new OS is designed to power a wide variety of devices, from embedded systems to the Xbox One and everything in between.
