Microsoft has hired a high-ranking Qualcomm executive, Peggy Johnson, who most recently oversaw the semiconductor company’s strategic partnerships and its initiatives to commercialize new technologies, according to a report by Re/code, citing unnamed sources.

The hire hasn’t yet been confirmed by either company, and Johnson’s expected position at Microsoft isn’t known. It would be one of the first big outside hires by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella since he took over the role earlier this year.

According to her executive bio, which is still posted on the Qualcomm site, Johnson has worked for Qualcomm for 24 years, starting as an engineer for Qualcomm Wireless Business Solutions, working her way up to the position of vice president of technology.

Johnson also would bring mobile experience. Among the highlights from her bio: “Under her leadership, Qualcomm developed and commercially launched the BREW platform, which pioneered the world’s first large-scale mobile app store, helped developers monetize their applications and inspired the growth of a global ecosphere that has generated $3 billion in revenues to date.”

We’ve contacted Microsoft seeking comment on the report.
