Former Starbucks exec Mary Egan is looking to change the way Americans plan family meals.

Gatheredtable, a new Seattle startup backed by Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz, angel investor Geoff Entress and others, today is launching a new service that allows families to receive customized weekly menus and grocery lists.

GatheredtableThe idea: Make the the daily family dinner experience less painful. Led by former Starbucks exec and mother of three Mary Egan, Gatheredtable also is announcing today a partnership with online grocery delivery service Peapod.

After signing up and inserting specific personal details about family size, food preferences and other information, Gatheredtable then generates a custom menu that’s tailored to a family’s specific needs. Users can edit menus, and easily input their own recipes. The service also creates a grocery list, removing specific items that may already be stocked in a family’s pantry.

Now, through the partnership with Peapod — which operates in 24 different markets across the U.S. — the items on the grocery list can be delivered directly to the home.

Yes, that’s right. You’ll never have to step foot in a grocery store again.

Gatheredtable says that it is working with other grocery delivery services, and plans to have additional delivery functionality operating in 20 of the top 25 markets in the U.S. next year.

The service is free for the first six months, and then switches to $10 per month.
