iPhone6Plus-PF-iPhone6-PF-Passbook-PR-PRINT copyPeople who have been waiting to make payments with their new iPhone 6 or 6 Plus don’t have to wait much longer. Apple Pay, the new mobile payments service from the iPhone maker, will be available this Monday, thanks to a forthcoming update.

Apple will release iOS 8.1 next week, which includes support for the payment system, as well as a few other tweaks. Craig Federighi, the company’s Senior Vice President of Software Engineering, said that the service has the support of more than 500 banks, including the major partners who signed on before the service was announced last month.

In addition, the company has teamed up with a wide variety of retailers, including Whole Foods, Nike and Walgreens, to provide the service to customers as they check out. Apple Pay will also work for e-commerce transactions both on the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus as well as on the new iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3.

The rest of the update is primarily focused on bringing new photo features to iOS, including the public beta of iCloud Photo Library, which allows users to sync all of the photos on all of their iOS devices with Apple’s cloud service. Those photos do count against a user’s overall iCloud storage, so people who want to store a whole lot of images will probably have to purchase additional storage.
