Apple may be announcing some designer iPod socks this fall, thanks to a new hire.

Paul Deneve, the former CEO of fashion label Saint Laurent, has re-joined Apple, according to a tweet by Adam Satariano from Bloomberg. Deneve will be reporting directly to Tim Cook, and will be in charge of special projects.

While early speculation pointed towards Deneve taking up the retail position vacated by John Browett, it seems that at least for now, Deneve will not be running Apple’s retail operation. What he will be doing would seem to be a well-kept secret at the moment.

In the meantime, what do you think Deneve should do in his new position?
