Meteor Solutions, a social advertising and marketing startup led by Ben Straley, has been acquired by Covario in a deal of undisclosed size. All 10 of Meteor Solutions’ employees will receive job offers to join Covario’s new Rio SEO unit as part of the deal. And Meteor, which was founded in 2009 by Straley, will retain its offices in Pioneer Square.

As a result of the acquisition, the three social media software products that make up the Meteor Social Audience Marketing Suite of products for consumer engagement, advertising and analysis will be integrated into the Rio SEO platform. Customers using Meteor’s tools include Campbell’s, Microsoft and CNN.

“Rio SEO has established itself as the leader in SEO technology and services.” Straley said.  “We’re delighted to be combining our social advertising and analytics capabilities with Rio SEO’s best-of-breed earned media and search engine optimization platform.”

Based in San Diego, Covario is backed by the likes of Seattle-based Voyager Capital and others.

Straley previously worked at Starwave and Judy’s Book, and he co-founded the social media agency Spring Creek Group. Spring Creek was sold last year to Mediabrands. Covario is led by Russ Mann, a former manager at Onyx Software and Homestore.
