The launch of Microsoft’s Avatar Kinect yesterday has provided a new form of creative expression to Xbox 360 users — letting them put their Xbox Live avatars in virtual settings and interact with other users (and their avatars) by talking and gesturing in front of the Kinect sensor.

So how are they using it so far? Let’s just say that the phrase “creative expression” should be used very loosely, based on what we’re seeing. We combed through the videos posted by users online over the last 24 hours and came up with these gems, starting with “Alice and Xalaga” discovering a surprising feature of the beach setting.

This one from “Neil and Oyster” speaks for itself … using the phrase “speaks” loosely, as well.

“Loudmouthman” takes the opportunity in this video to set the record straight about his avatar’s kilt.

And finally, the boys from joystiq have some fun exploring their avatars’ gestures …

This was seriously representative of what we found on YouTube. But there must be someone who has moved beyond experimentation to use Avatar Kinect for an interesting conversation or maybe a pseudo-professional talk show. If you find some higher-quality stuff out there, drop us a link.
